Motorsport covers many disciplines. The main categories are:
- Open-wheel / single-seater — cars with exposed wheels and a single cockpit. Formula 1 is the pinnacle, supported by Formula 2, Formula 3 and Formula 4. IndyCar (USA) and the all-electric Formula E are other leading single-seater series.
- Endurance racing — races measured in hours rather than laps, where crews of drivers share a car. The 24 Hours of Le Mans and the World Endurance Championship (WEC) are the flagships.
- GT racing — production-derived grand-touring sports cars, raced in championships such as GT World Challenge and within endurance events.
- Motorcycle racing — MotoGP (prototype bikes) plus Moto2 and Moto3, and the production-based World Superbike championship.
- Rally — the World Rally Championship (WRC), where crews race against the clock on gravel, tarmac and snow.
- Stock cars & ovals — the American tradition, led by NASCAR, racing predominantly on oval speedways.
Each category has its own cars, rules and racing culture — explore any of them from our series list.
