Founded: 2010
Major titles: 8 Constructors' (2014-2021) + 7 Drivers' championships (F1)
Mercedes-Benz has a long Formula 1 history. It won the Drivers' Championship with Juan Manuel Fangio in 1954 and 1955, dominating with the W196 before withdrawing from the sport for more than half a century.
The current works team was formed in 2010, when Mercedes bought the championship-winning Brawn GP squad - itself the successor to the Tyrrell, BAR and Honda teams based in Brackley, England.
Success on a historic scale followed the 2014 switch to turbo-hybrid engines. Mercedes won eight consecutive Constructors' Championships from 2014 to 2021, and seven straight Drivers' titles from 2014 to 2020 - six for Lewis Hamilton and one for Nico Rosberg in 2016. It remains the longest run of consecutive title doubles in F1 history.
The team also supplies power units to several customer teams, and its engines have underpinned much of the modern era. After Hamilton left for Ferrari ahead of the 2025 season, Mercedes began a new chapter around a younger line-up while continuing as one of the grid's leading constructors.
